The Southern Gun Company – Custom Rifle Builders
During the past twelve months the Southern Gun Company have completed their four thousandth custom AR-15 rifle build, which was a further milestone for the company. They have invested in more state of the art CNC equipment for their expanded workshop facilities, which has allowed them to increase their parts range and production capabilities.
Also, they are now supplying several American AR-15 producers with Hi Tech alternative parts and systems. Exports to the USA are now forming over half of their turnover. It is a source of continued consternation to them that some shooters actually re-import parts that have been made by the Southern Gun Company to sell here in the UK as well as in the USA. At present, if it’s plastic they don’t make it and if it’s either alloy or steel they have one or more versions in production, or planned.
Since the Southern Gun Company started producing these rifles, they have been aware of the laws concerning the conversion of semi automatic weapons to Section 1 UK legal firearms. They have, therefore, either made their own major component (lower receiver) or in the early days contracted an American company to do that for them and then register the serial number with the US BATF as single shot only at manufacturer. The serial numbers of lower receivers purchased from the US without that specific registration are listed by the BATF as semi-automatic or fully automatic rifles, (in the USA the lower is the rifle), the implication is clear to see. Should you decide to purchase another source your rifle, for your own security, ensure that this has been done.
For their own rifles the Southern Gun Company now produce all the high accuracy, lower receivers, bolts, carriers and many special parts that go to make up a finished SGC Custom Rifle.
Whilst the AR-15 and M16 style rifles have become their major preoccupation for the past fifteen years, 2017 will be their forty sixth year as rifle makers.
The Southern Gun Company will be exhibiting at The British Shooting Show 2017 for the very first time. Visitors can find the SGC stand in Gunmakers Hall 3.
