Holt’s Auctioneers is selling a fine pair of sterling silver miniature shotguns built to commemorate the bicentenary of top London gunmaker James Purdey & Sons in 2014.

Chris Beaumont commented: “This wonderful set of handmade miniatures was built to mark a very significant event in the history of British gunmaking, and with just three sets in existence, this presents quite possibly a unique opportunity to acquire the ultimate desktop piece! For someone who thought they had everything….”

They feature London 925 silver hall marks, with makers mark J.P & S. and dated for 2014, break-open barrels, the actions with fine acanthus scroll detailing and signed ‘PURDEY’, executed by Purdey in house engraver John Dowell, in their goatskin-lined walnut presentation case with hand embossed silver trade label.

Estimate: £3,000-4,000
