Side by Side championships AGL

On Friday 8th September Atkin Grant & Lang hosted our annual British Side By Side Championships. This event is always a firm favourite, but this year we endeavored to make it the biggest so far, with the addition of the ‘Festival of Gunmaking’.
The AGL Team were delighted to welcome some of the most renowned Gunmakers in the British gun trade to exhibit their work. A range of exceptional guns were on display for guests to view and shoot.

The Championships consisted of a 120 bird English sporting course designed specifically for side by sides. The course also included a grouse and high pheasant sequence to really test out competitors. Despite the awful weather the scores were excellent, with Marc Ingate taking overall high gun shooting his 12 gauge Purdey on an impressive 111 out of 120.

Whilst out on the course competitors also got the opportunity to try out black powder shooting. John Hargreaves, who was dressed to impress in classic 18th century attire, had a range of black powder guns such as flintlocks and blunderbusses. We would like to say a special thank you to John for joining us.

Prizes were announced and Marc Ingate not only recieved 1000 Lyalvale Express cartridges but also the opportunity to borrow a Bentley for the weekend.
A huge thank you to Express and H R Owen Hertfordshire for donating such brilliant prizes.
