Benelli SP’Auto Championships 2017

Sunday 21st May saw the innovative 2017 Benelli SP’ Auto Championships take place at the outstanding Southdown Gun Club, which won the accolade of the Nation’s Favourite Shooting Ground 2017. Designed exclusively for semi-automatics the course comprised of 120 targets over 14 stands and attracted large numbers of entrants eager for a fresh challenge to test their powers of concentration.

The event, organised by GMK together with the Southdown Gun Club was a great success with hundreds of shooters enjoying the competition, the excellent facilities and one of the warmest sunniest days of the year so far. This year’s event was sponsored by ELEY, Lokaway and The British Shooting Show.

The competition bar was set early on in the day with Dean Gibbs posting a great score of 116, this stood for most of the day until Martin Myers and Josh Brown tied on 117. After a tense shoot off it was Martin Myers who finally emerged as the 2017 Benelli SP’ Auto Champion.

With an excellent competition layout, seamless organisation and the friendly welcoming atmosphere it’s not difficult to see why this competition is so popular with competitors and has become a highlight on the shooting calendar.
